Engleza de afaceri/Your presentation

START ENGLISH. Watch, listen, speak. Tips and tricks about English.

Everybody must have had a presentation and once in a blue moon, it can be a challenge.

First and foremost, write your presentation in clear and simple sentences and make sure you are familiarized with the concepts you deal with. Then, extract the gist of your presentation to be shown on some slides. If it is the case, you should include some graphs or pictures because people remember and understand better this stuff, as compared to just words. And you should not talk too much, but to present the concepts you can show  in the pictures and graphs. All the time when you present key concepts in evolution, do it in a graph.
Next, prepare the possible questions that the audience can ask you. If you are not very sure of some of the ideas you develop, it is wiser not to mention them at all and this to avoid questions to which you may not know the answer.
My occupation has taught me that the simpler the ideas the happier the people.

Engleza pentru incepatori

START ENGLISH. Watch, listen, speak. Tips and tricks about English.

(Cursantii formuleaza si raspund la intrebari cum ar fi: “Where are you from?”, “I am from Romania.”)

Conversation courses for beginners

START ENGLISH. Watch, listen, speak. Tips and tricks about English.

These courses are based upon dialogues about everyday life situations with a focus on questions. The themes are very simple at the beginning and in time, they become more complex. I also teach my students how to ask questions because they sometimes make mistakes, due to the fact that in our language we do not have rules for questions.
Questions are very important because in any situation, you will manage through asking questions. Also, questions are a key point in every conversation.
Another issue to be discussed refers to being polite in English, another situation totally different from our language. In Romanian we have the politeness pronouns, in English we have to make do (manage) with “could” or “would”.
So whenever you need something you say: “Could you help me?” or “Could I have …?” and whenever you offer something you say: “Would you like …?”

There are also some grammar themes but presented mainly in practice, meaning in conversation.
